Barracudas are the Champions!

Congratulations Barracudas!!

A wonderful win tonight against Eagle Watch, final score Barracudas 501, Eagle Watch 436 -- a 65 point victory over a tough team who were last year's county champions. Great swimming and alot of fun with parent relays and swimmer relays. You all showed that the Barracudas can't be beat!

Huge thank yous to our swimmers for working so hard this season to become the best they could be, to our coaches for long hours of putting together heat sheets, and for making practices and meets so much fun (we all especially liked the hip dance moves tonight by both Coach Johnny & Coach Hess), to our committee coordinators -- Bullpen for coraling our kids, Volunteering for making sure we always had people at the right place at the right time, Concessions for providing great food and drink and earning the most concession profits we've ever had, our Photographer for capturing these special moments, our Scorekeepers for keeping precise track of our points, our Office Team for entering, updating, label sticking, ribbon writing and anything else they were asked, our Banquet coordinator for planning a great party for all of us tomorrow night and to all of our parents for the countless (and I do mean countless) ways you make our swim team run so smoothly. Our successes this season are because of all of you!

We're so proud of our team for becoming this year's Cherokee County Champions and more importantly for showing such amazing team spirit on the road to that victory!

Reminder, there is no fun Friday tomorrow so enjoy sleeping in and we'll see everyone at the banquet tomorrow night for celebrations.

District Swim Meet - July 10th

Hi Everyone,

The district swim meet is coming up on Saturday, July 10th. For everyone attending this meet, we will be holding practices beginning on Tuesday, July 6th thru Friday July 9th at 9am-11am at the main pool.

The district meet is being held in Douglesville and I will post the directions and start times as soon as we receive them.

Good luck to all of our swimmers -- we very proud of all of you!

Barracudas Rock the Waves

Congratulations Barracudas!!

Another great win tonight with a score of Barracudas 482, Wyngate Waves 446 --
a 36 point victory! Great swims by all of our kids and alot of great team spirit shown. The Waves put on a wonderful luau party.

We have a busy week ahead, the last week already -- seems like the season has gone by really fast this year. Tomorrow is Fun Friday beginning at 9am and ending at 11am. Remember to pick up your ribbons, also if you have not picked up your t-shirt, please see me during the week to get them. Our last meet is against Eagle Watch, at our home pool. It will most likely be another close one, so get ready for some fast swimming.

Our banquet is next Friday, July 2nd at the main pool. We will start serving dinner (catered by Longhorn's )at 6:30 and then we will have our awards ceremony and slide show. You should have received a registration email form or you can pick one up at the pool Forms must be turned in by Monday so that we can give Longhorn's an accurate count. Meal costs are listed on the form -- Adult dinners are $9 and Child dinners are $6. This is a change from last year, as the team is not paying for the children's meals this year. Unfortunately, we were unable to have food donated as in prior years -- most likely due to the economy. Also, we are reserving some of the team funds towards a computer and printer -- since the ones we had last year both died and we have been using a loaner system. We're planning to have a great time and hope all of you can attend. If you have any questions, feel free to email or call me.

One final item, if you have any final pictures you want included in the slideshow, please get them to AmyBeth Bell by tomorrow (Friday, June 25).

Great job tonight by our swimmers and by all of our parent volunteers. The wyngate team complimented all of our parents on doing such a great job of cleaning up after the meet and said that we were the best (and most fun) team they've ever hosted. So thanks to all of you for that!!!

Barracudas Chew Up the Competition

Yes our Barracudas meant business tonight, chewing up the competition with a win by over 100 points! Swimmers showed that yes! they have been paying attention during practices. We had many great races throughout the meet. So many in fact that we ran out of blue (1st place) ribbons during the meet and had to get more -- go barracudas!! Big thank-you's to coach Johnny and Coach Hess for their work in getting everyone ready these past two weeks.

After a few minor glitches with the microphone, event board and printer, things ran smoothly and thankfully there was No Rain (yeah!). All of our returning parent volunteers fell right back into the routine and new parents quickly came up to speed and were pro's by half-time. Thank you!

Congrats on a great 1st meet -- onward to Woodmont!

Our first fun Friday is tomorrow...er..today -- enjoy the fun pool time :-)

Practice CANCELLED 5/26 & 5/27

Hello everyone,

We've just received word from the Bradshaw Management Co. that the pool is being closed Wednesday (today) and Thursday for repair work. As some of you may have noticed, several tiles 'fell off' the side of the pool and need to be repaired, as well as a few other items that have to be done before the pool opens to residents on Friday. Therefore, we will NOT have any practices today or tomorrow.

We will resume practice on Tuesday, June 1st, with our morning practice schedule. During the practices for 6 & under, 7/8 and 9/10 we will have one lane available to complete time trials for anyone that missed them yesterday. Also, our 11 & up group will all do time trials to complete the events we did not get to yesterday.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Tuesday Time Trials - May 25th

Good Evening Barracudas,

Tuesday, May 25th, we will be holding team time trials during each age group practice. What this means is that during your swimmer's normal practice time, we will have them swim the events they would swim in a meet and we will be timing them (ie 25 Free, 25 Back, etc.). We'll use these times to place them in events for the meet next week. The time trials give us a beginning point for each swimmer and allows us to more accurately place everyone in the proper heats (races) for each event. Therefore, it is important to try to attend.

If you cannot make it to practice tomorrow and you have a year-round swimmer, you can email us (Angela or Jeannete) times for all the events that he/she swims. If you cannot make it and you do not have a year round swimmer, you will still be able to swim in next weeks meet. The coaches will use their best judgement to place swimmers without 'time trial' times into event heats.

During each practice, we will need a few parents to help with timing the events. If you are willing to help with this, please let me know when you arrive.

See you at the pool!

2010 Swim Team Registration - Saturday, March 20th

Welcome back Barracuda swimmers. Our team registration will be held on Saturday, March 20th at the main clubhouse (lower level). In neighborhood registration is from 10am - 2pm and out of the neighborhood registration is from 12pm-2pm.

During registration we will have sign up for volunteer positions (so please check your schedules for June and be prepared to sign up that day). We cannot complete your registration until you are signed up for all of your volunteer positions (4-5). Registration fees should be paid for by check made out to Bradshaw Farm Swim Team.

We will also have sample suits for try-on and for ordering. We will be using the same suits again this year -- to hopefully aid in passing suits to siblings. Goggles and caps will also be available for purchase. Swim suit, goggle and cap purchases can be paid for by cash, check or credit card - checks made payable to Kastaway Swimwear.

Our first meet this year will be Thursday, June 3rd, so after school practices will start later in May, on the 17th (weather permitting). Please see the sidebar for all practice schedule times and meet dates for the 2010 season.

We're looking forward to another great swim season and can't wait to see you all at the pool!
