2008 Swim Season Begins Tuesday, May 6th!

Hi everyone -- Welcome to our returning swimmers and to our new families who've joined the team this year. We're really glad to have you all on the team. We're very excited to have Darlene Hanzlik back this year as head coach and to have Sara Cullins, TJ Crossland and Claire Cates as junior coaches.

Our season begins Tuesday, May 6th this year with practices Monday thru Friday, in the afternoons, for all age groups.
10 & Under will practice 4:15-5:00pm
6 & Under will practice 5:00-5:30pm
8 & Under will practice 5:30-6:15pm
11 & Up will practice 6:15-7:00pm

We have purchased a solar blanket which should help increase the water temperature and make the pool a little more comfortable for all of the swimmers both for the May practices and the morning practices in June.

The coaches will be working with everyone to get ready for our first meet -- which is on Thursday, May 22nd at home, and we will be holding time trials during the 2nd week of practice. A separate notice will be posted with the date and more details.

In total, we will be having 6 meets this year, that's 1 more than last year (and 4 of them will be at home) so we need everyone to pitch in with volunteering. At registration we asked everyone to sign up for 4 positions, however, after looking at the schedules and finalizing total number of swimmers, we 've determined that we will need everyone to volunteer for 5 positions this year. Sign up sheets will be posted during the 1st week of practice. Please sign up at the practices! Once we have the finalized volunteer schedules they will be posted here on this blog for easy reference.

We couldn't run the meet without all of you helping out, so please contact Jennifer Hall (Jennifer.Hall@cherokee.k12.ga.us) or Janice Raines (mraines2@bellsouth.net) if you haven't signed up yet. Also, if you're able/willing to volunteer for any additional positions beyond the five required, please let us know.
